Drupal WOWs - Episode 3 - Selling Access to Content using Drupal Commerce

Ever wondered how you could turn your content into a product - and sell access to it without building an entirely separate system and all this without a single line of code in Drupal? That’s exactly what we explore in the third episode of my Drupal WOWS video series, where I showcase the incredible flexibility of Drupal to audiences who may not be familiar with its true potential.

In this episode, I demonstrate how to:

  • Sell user roles so that purchasing a specific role instantly grants access to certain types of content.
  • Use Drupal Commerce and Commerce Licence modules to handle purchasing of user roles.
  • Create a Journal content type where articles are behind a paywall, accessible only to those with the Journal Viewer role. I am giving an impression that the system is being built for a premium research journal so that users would have to purchase access to journal articles.
  • Add a separate “Journal Listing Viewer” role to allow curated listing views for subscribers.
  • Go beyond per content type access — and instead, sell access to individual pieces of content for ultimate flexibility using Commerce License Access Control module.

From role-based access to granular, per-article sales, this episode is packed with practical tips you can adapt to your own projects.

If you want to see Drupal and Drupal Commerce flex its muscles in real-world scenarios, this one’s a must-watch. Check out the full video and see how easily you can turn your content into a revenue stream — the Drupal and Drupal Commerce way.
